Glen Affric Wild Camping Northern Scotland 2017/06/08
A couple of weeks spent in the Scottish Highlands exploring the North
of the country. In the same vein a couple of day hikes to Assynt.
Visiting a cave where a polar bear skull was found. Above all it
was Glen Affric wild camping that was the highlight.
Introduction
A glorious time was had exploring the Glen Affric area walking through
to Kintail. Importantly the old Caledonian forest here is some of the
last remaining patches to be found in the UK.
The views across the loch to these
ancient trees stirs something deep inside. Consequently reintroducing
these habitats is well known in the Glen Affric area. Above all I cant
wait to visit again in many years to see how the trees and environment
are expanding and growing.
In conclusion I aim to visit the Falls of Glomach and the Iron Lodge
next time I am up hiking in this area. The midges were a little problem
but one can put up with them, until a point anyway!
Enjoy the photos.
